UK Research and Innovation (Medical Research council): UK Obesity Research Institute

Funding to establish the UK Obesity Research Institute, a major multidisciplinary research initiative focused on understanding the biological mechanisms underlying obesity and developing new approaches for the prevention and treatment of obesity and its complications. This is a large-scale, institute-building opportunity, rather than a standard individual research grant. Researchers interested in participating should ideally establish contact with a relevant UK-based research group/consortium early in the process.

The application must be led by a UK research organisation eligible for MRC funding.

International researchers/institutions may potentially participate as collaborators, subject to UKRI/MRC eligibility and funding rules.

Funding available is up to £72 million for an initial seven years, with the potential to renew.
