Era-Net TRANSCAN-4 (MOH): Translational Research on Cancer Metabolism- Multidisciplinary Approaches for Diagnosis and Treatment (Pre-Proposals)
Consortia of minimum of 3 (and a maximum 6) partners from at least 3 different eligible countries (see in the call)
Aims of the call:
The anticipated outcome of the call is the development of innovative, personalised approaches for cancer diagnosis, patient stratification, and treatment, grounded in a deeper mechanistic understanding of metabolic alterations in cancer.
Proposals must address at least one of the aims:
Aim 1: Enabling better cancer diagnostics and monitoring through metabolic biomarkers
Novel metabolic biomarkers and technologies offer major opportunities for earlier cancer detection, improved patient stratification and more accurate monitoring of treatment response and disease progression.
Aim 2: Intercepting metabolic vulnerabilities to improve precision medicine
Metabolic reprogramming in cancer creates unique dependencies that can be exploited therapeutically. Tumours often develop distinct metabolic signatures, shaped by oncogenic mutations, which drive tumour initiation, progression, therapy resistance, and metastasis. These metabolic adaptations open the door to precision medicine approaches that target defined metabolic vulnerabilities with tailored interventions.
Funding for the Israeli partner: up to 140K Euro for 3 years (160K Euro for coordinator).

הקול הקורא מיועד לעידוד מחקרים רפואיים פורצי דרך בתחום רפואת העיניים, תוך מיקוד בגישות חדשניות ורב-תחומיות. הצעות המחקר תעסוקנה במניעה ראשונית ומשנית של מחלות עיניים, פיתוח שיטות אבחון מתקדמות ומדויקות, וטיפולים חדשניים המבוססים על טכנולוגיות מתקדמות כגון רפואה מותאמת אישית, הנדסה ביולוגית ובינה מלאכותית.
דגש מיוחד יינתן למחקרים בתחום הרגנרציה ושיקום רקמות העין, לרבות שימו ש בתאי גזע והנדסת רקמות לשחזור תפקוד הראייה. הקול הקור א מעודד, בין השאר, מחקרים העוסקים בטיפול ושיקום פגיעות עיניים על רקע טראומה, ובפרט פצוע י מלחמה, תוך פיתוח פתרונות קליניים ושיקומיים לשיפור איכות חייהם .

עמותת “לראות” – קול קורא למענקי מחקר בתחום העין והראיה
העמותה תתמוך בשני מענקי מחקר (אחד קליני ואחד בסיסי) לאבחון קליני/ גנטי ו/או טיפול במחלות עיניים, עם יתרון למחלות שכיחות בישראל, הגורמות לאובדן משמעותי בראיה (למשל מחלות רשתית ניווניות תורשתיות, ניוון מקולרי גילי, גלאוקומה, מחלות עצב, רטינופתיה סוכרתית ועוד), ולטיפולים שלהם תהא השפעה פוטנציאלית על מספר רב ככל האפשר של מטופלים. כמו כן, תתקבלנה הצעות מחקר בסיסי-קליני שעשויות להוביל להבנה טובה יותר של המחלות ולטיפול בהן בעתיד.

MOST-DKFZ: Israel-Germany cooperation in the field of cancer research 2027 – Pre-Proposals

German and Israeli scientists are invited to submit joint pre-proposals for innovative and potentially applicable research projects on all topics and aspects (prevention, diagnosis, therapy) related to the full range of state-of-the art cancer research (basic research/discovery/innovation to preclinical translation/validation and clinical translation). The potential for cancer therapy should be clearly pointed out. Clinical trials are not suited for this program.

משרד החדשנות, המדע והטכנולוגיה: קול קורא למחקרים יישומיים בנושא “ההון האנושי בתחומי ה– STEM במערכת החינוך” 2026
מועדים מחייבים להגשת הצעות: רשות המחקר ,10.8משרד המדע 17.8
מטרת התוכנית היא לקדם מחקר יישומי-אסטרטגי משותף אשר יבחן את סוגיית ההון האנושי בחינוך בתחומי ה-STEM מנקודת מבט מערכתית ורב-תחומית. המחקרים נועדו לגבש תשתית ידע לעיצוב מדיניות ארוכת טווח, לשפר את הנגישות ללימודים אלו בקרב תלמידים ממגוון תתי-אוכלוסיות בישראל, ולסייע בצמצום פערים חברתיים וגיאוגרפיים.
יש להתייחס לאחד או יותר מן הנושאים במיקוד בהצעת המחקר (יתרון יינתן למחקרים אשר יבחנו יותר מנושא אחד):
- מיפוי והבנת המחסור במורים במקצועות STEM לאורך הרצף (א-י”ד): ניתוח היקף המחסור במורים במקצועות ה-STEM, לפי אזור, מגזר ואשכול חברתי־כלכלי, ומידת השפעתם על היצע לימודי 5 יח”ל, הישגים לימודיים ונגישות למסלולים מתקדמים.
- כניסה להוראה ותהליכי הכשרה במקצועות ה-STEM: התעמקות בסוגיות העוסקות במאפייני הבוחרים להיכנס להוראת ה-STEM, מסלולי ההכשרה (לרבות תוכניות ייעודיות והסבות אקדמאים), החסמים המרכזיים לבחירה בהוראה ושיעורי ההתמדה של בוגרי המסלולים השונים לאורך זמן.
- השתלבות, איכות הוראה והתמקצעות: בחינה כיצד סוג ההכשרה, קליטת המורים בבתי הספר, מאפייני בית הספר הקולט, ליווי והתפתחות מקצועית, עומסי העבודה והמבנה הארגוני משפיעים על איכות ההוראה ועל הישארות במערכת; וכן ניתוח מודלים פדגוגיים וארגוניים המסייעים לצמצום השחיקה והנשירה, לרבות זיהוי הגורמים לשחיקה ולנשירה בשלב קליטת המורים בבתי הספר ובחינת החלופות התעסוקתיות המתחרות בהוראה (כגון תעשייה טכנולוגית ומדעית ואקדמיה) והשפעתן על החלטות כניסה ויציאה מהמערכת.
- אי־שוויון ומוביליות חברתית דרך מקצועות ה-STEM: בחינה כיצד מחסור במורים והבדלים באיכות ההוראה משפיעים על תלמידים באזורים ובאוכלוסיות שונות, ומהן ההשלכות ארוכות הטווח על השתלבות באקדמיה ובתעסוקה עתירת ידע.
- מדיניות ותמריצים אפקטיביים לגיוס ולשימור מורי ה-STEM: זיהוי מנגנוני תמרוץ (כלכליים, מקצועיים, אזוריים), מודלים לשיתופי פעולה עם תעשייה ואקדמיה, וצעדי מדיניות ארוכי טווח שיכולים לחזק את ההיצע והאיכות ומניעת שחיקה של מורי ה- STEM בכלל אזורי הארץ.
- בחינת הדרכים להתמודדות עם מחסור במורי ה-STEM: לרבות באמצעות פתרונות טכנולוגיים מתקדמים.
מימון: 500 אלף ₪ לתקופה של עד שנתיים (4 מחקרים ימומנו).

Internal Call – VATAT (Planning and Budgeting Committee) Proof of Concept (POC) Research Funding Program (Internal application by Aug 10)
This program supports outstanding academic research with clear applied potential—commercial, public, or societal—and is designed to bridge the gap between early-stage research and more mature projects capable of attracting external (industry or public-sector) interest. The POC stage is critical for advancing translational research but often faces funding challenges due to technological and market uncertainty.
Funding details: Up to 350,000 NIS per project; Duration: 18–24 months; Open to all academic disciplines, subject to demonstrated applied potential
This call is intended specifically for projects at the proof-of-concept stage, i.e., those that have not yet secured commercial investment due to their current level of technological maturity.
Technion internal process: The Technion may submit up to seven proposals; therefore, an internal selection process will be conducted by the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of the Vice President for Innovation and Industry Relations.
Researchers interested in applying are requested to submit a preliminary proposal (in full proposal format) by August 10, 2026 to: ra-tec@technion.ac.il

הידע המדעי והטכנולוגי המושגים באמצעות המחקר הממומן ממשרדי הממשלה, יכולים וצריכים להגיע למעגלים רחבים בקרב הציבור, ילדים ובוגרים. בכך תוכפל תרומתם לקידום חברה טובה יותר. המשרד מבקש לשלב את החוקרים עצמם בפעילות ההנגשה והיישוג (outreach) של פועלם הם, תוך הפיכתם לגורם משמעותי לעידוד שיתוף הציבור בידע ובמידע המצטבר במעבדה ובשטח, הגברת העניין במדע וצמצום הפערים בנגישות ליידע ועשייה מדעית.

- היתכנות יישומית:על המחקרים המוצעים להציע פתרון לאתגר משמעותי במערכת הציבורית שנבחרה.
- שותפות: המחקרים יסתמכו על נתונים שיתקבלו משני גופים ציבוריים לפחות. יש לצרף להצעה מכתב הסכמה רשמי לשיתוף הנתונים (עיינו בנספחים).
- מתודולוגיה מחקרית:שימוש באלגוריתמיקה מתקדמת ובינה מלאכותית ככלי מחקר מרכזי על גבי נתוני עתק.
- מדע פתוח ושקיפות:יינתן יתרון להצעות המייצרות מידע חדש שיונגש לציבור הרחב במסגרת פורטל המידע הממשלתי (Data.gov.il) או באמצעים ציבוריים אחרים.
הצעות אשר לא ייבחנו במסגרת קול קורא זה
- מחקרים שאינם מתמקדים בעולמות התוכן שהוגדרו (המערכת הציבורית הפיננסית והמערכת הציבורית של השירותים חברתיים).
- מחקרים שאינם כוללים נתונים משני גופים ציבוריים לפחות.
- מחקרים המבוססים על כלי סטטיסטיקה מסורתית בלבד, או על מאגר נתונים מצומצם.
- הצעות העושות שימוש בפתרונות מדף גנרייםללא פיתוח אלגוריתמי ייעודי או עיבוד מעמיק של הנתונים.

To support multinational, GCP‑compliant early‑phase interventional clinical trials in rare diseases.
Priority areas: paediatric rare diseases; rapidly progressive rare diseases; and rare diseases with no approved therapeutic options or with substantial residual unmet medical need despite existing treatments.
* Each consortium must designate a Clinical Trial Sponsor and a Coordinating Investigator, include at least one funded patient partner (via a PAO or other organised patient group), and secure access to a qualified multinational Clinical Trial Management Organisation (CTMO).
Only multinational trials will be funded (minimum of three independent eligible partner institutions from at least three different eligible countries; PAOs focused primarily on PPIE do not count towards this minimum).

German Israeli Foundation (GIF): The development, application, and societal implications of artificial intelligence
Research proposals that explore the development, application, and societal implications of artificial intelligence (AI). This call seeks projects spanning both Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEM), and Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH).
Topic 1: Advancing the Science and Application of Artificial Intelligence (STEM): Research that advance the science and application of AI. It should either advance the field of AI itself or apply AI in a STEM discipline in a way that drives new fundamental or applied scientific insights. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, data mining, multi-agent systems, knowledge representation, human-in-the-loop AI, search, planning, reasoning, robotics, and perception. Application of AI across all STEM fields is a valid topic, provided that it can be shown to bring new advances and novel expectations from the research. GIF encourages proposals that combine methods from different AI sub-fields (e.g., machine learning and computer vision; robotics and multi-agent systems; computer vision and natural language processing), as well as proposals that connect AI with related disciplines such as neuroscience and cognitive science, medicine, and other STEM fields.
Topic 2: Artificial Intelligence as an Epistemic Transition (SSH): Emerging communication technologies increasingly challenge established forms of knowledge production and their criteria for the validation of evidence… The consequences extend from medical practice, consumer behavior, and political decision-making to the very modes by which scientific knowledge is generated, social relations are constituted, and self-understanding is articulated. GIF invites submissions from the SSH that critically investigate the epistemic, social, and cultural transformations associated with AI and related technologies. Projects may address these developments through theoretical, empirical, historical, or methodological approaches.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: The call strongly encourages collaboration between SSH and STEM partners. Interdisciplinary teams must clearly demonstrate the integration of STEM and SSH perspectives, focusing on AI and its implications.
Two funding tracks are available:
* Collaborative Track: Joint proposals by German and Israeli researchers with maximum total budget of €300,000 over 3 years.

The goal of this program is to generate large-scale, high-resolution proteoform datasets across Parkinson’s-relevant brain regions and matched biofluids to enable biomarker discovery and support the development of accessible, clinically meaningful fluid-based biomarkers.
This program supports two complementary funding tracks:
- Global Proteoform Profiling: A broad, proteome-wide effort to systematically characterize proteoforms, addressing a critical gap where conventional proteomics fails to capture disease-relevant molecular forms.
- Tau Proteoform Characterization: A focused track on Parkinson’s-relevant proteoforms of tau, addressing the limited understanding of tau biology in Parkinson’s disease.

Coefficient Giving: Global Health and Wellbeing in an Era of Transformative AI
Support research, policy development, implementation, and field-building to help ensure AI improves human health and wellbeing, with particular attention to risks for and benefits to the global poor. Examples of projects include: research on how global health grantmaking should respond to advances in AI, a technical assistance program to make emerging economies more robust to AI labor market disruption, or efforts to build clinical trial and regulatory infrastructure in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) before AI-enabled treatments outpace the systems meant to deliver them. We are open to funding a wide range of work, including writing, policy analysis, and research, but we’re especially excited by the prospect of seeding new organizations and supporting direct implementation.
We will fund work along two complementary axes:
* Identifying the preparatory steps global health funders and actors should take (research, policy analysis, empirical mapping), and
* Executing on preparatory steps that are likely high-value (infrastructure, relationships, field-building, piloting).
We think LMICs will likely be especially vulnerable to the downsides and especially poorly positioned to capture the upsides, and that work focused on impacting these countries will likely be more neglected. That said, we are fully open to work focused on high-income countries, provided it responds to the broader orientation above.

National MS society: Barancik Prize
The Barancik Prize recognizes an exceptional scientist or a team of scientists whose work in MS research demonstrates outstanding innovation and originality. The winner receives a $125,000 prize, to be used at the discretion of the recipient, and a $200,000 fellowship award for a trainee at the recipient’s institution.
The prize is administered by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A selection committee comprised of leaders in science, medicine, and MS advocacy will review nominees and evaluate:

DARPA\Microsystems Technology Office (MTO): Quantum Benchmarking Initiative Topic (QBIT)- Abstracts
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is issuing a Quantum Benchmarking Initiative topic (QBIT) to solicit innovative approaches addressing challenges related to quantum computing. The QBIT will examine approaches to constructing a utility-scale fault-tolerant quantum computer and computational workflows that include quantum compute steps. Proposed research should investigate approaches that enable revolutionary advances in design, engineering, testing, and evaluation of such systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice. The purpose of this QBIT is to encourage new entrants to QBI, ensuring DARPA has visibility into all approaches and potential solutions. While this QBIT is not intended to solicit proposals from performers selected under prior QBI or US2QC solicitations, those performers are not precluded from submitting new proposals under this PA if they believe their approach offers new or distinct contributions to the QBI initiative.

How do we ensure safety in a world with millions of interacting agents, built and deployed by many different actors?
This funding call aims to … catalyse the foundational scientific research needed to understand, evaluate, and control risks emerging from large-scale ecosystems of interacting AI agents, deployed by multiple actors.
The call has been inspired by three recent papers. First, Google DeepMind’s “Distributional AGI Safety” outlines the safety implications of highly capable AI systems emerging not as single monolithic agents, but through coordinated networks of specialised sub-AGI systems with differential access to tools, data, memory, and resources. Second, ARIA’s “Scaling Trust” programme thesis argues that, in a world of increasingly capable networked agents acting across digital and physical environments, coordination infrastructure that lets agents enter into ‘contracts’ securely, programmatically, at scale, and without intermediaries can preserve pluralism and unlock new forms of coordination. Finally, the Cooperative AI Foundation’s “Multi-Agent Risks from Advanced AI” report argues that interacting populations of AI agents introduce qualitatively new failure modes beyond single-agent systems, including collusion, conflict, destabilising dynamics, emergent agency, and novel multi-agent security vulnerabilities. These perspectives in turn build on earlier work by Minsky (1986), Huberman (1988), Wooldridge & Jennings (1995), Manheim (2018), Drexler (2019), Critch & Krueger (2020), Clifton (2020), Dafoe et al. (2020), Conitzer & Oesterheld (2023), Chan et al. (2025), Kolt (2025), Hadfield & Koh (2025), and Tomašev et al. (2025), among many others.
We organise this call into four sections, corresponding to the following research clusters:
- Sandboxes and Testbeds address the first major bottleneck: without realistic, reproducible multi-agent environments, progress on the remaining sections is hard to evaluate or compare.
- The Science of Agent Networks focuses on the safety-relevant properties of interacting agent populations: how collective capabilities emerge and scale, how networks of agents fail or become volatile, and how dangerous population-level properties can be detected.
- Strengthening Agent Infrastructure concerns the evaluation and stress-testing of the technical primitives – identity, verifiability, reputation, communication, commitment – on which trustworthy multi-agent interactions will depend.
- Multi-Agent Oversight and Control covers the detection, attribution, security, and intervention methods needed to keep deployed agent populations safe at scale.
We expect work in the latter clusters to build on work in the former clusters. Proposals may therefore target one cluster or span several, but we will prioritise those that target depth rather than breadth.

Coefficient Giving: Alternative Protein R&D
Coefficient Giving has allocated several million dollars toward the development of better and cheaper alternatives to animal products. We now see an opportunity to accelerate progress on several fronts, particularly in closing the taste and price gap between alternative proteins and the animal products they aim to replace.
We’re soliciting proposals across four priority areas:
- Off-flavor reduction in plant- and fermentation-derived protein ingredients, via agricultural, breeding, processing, or fermentation-based interventions;
- Fat alternatives for flavor generation, including oleogels, emulsion systems on existing margarine/spread lines, oil bodies, novel flavor-active lipid compounds, and oilseed breeding for longer-chain monounsaturates;
- Egg reduction and replacement through enzymatic approaches, hybrid systems, and foundational functional characterization in industrial bakery, mayonnaise/dressings, and pasta; and
- Characterizing fish flavors in welfare-priority species, including tilapia and milkfish, carp and bottom-dwellers (including pond loach), and catfish.

Blood Cancer United: The Discovery Grants Program (DGP) – LOI

What is funded?
While the term “dual use” traditionally refers to the dual applicability of research findings or technologies for civilian and military purposes, in the humanities and social sciences, “dual use” is understood here to mean unintended effects of research in these fields. These effects can take many forms. This call for proposals focuses on ideologically motivated anti-liberal, anti-scientific, and anti-democratic forms of such appropriations.
For example, the scientific insight that “knowledge is socially constructed” can be reduced to the claim that all truth is merely opinion—a claim used to delegitimize science or the media. Postcolonialist approaches are also sometimes reinterpreted in political discourse, for instance to defend a supposed “right to difference.”

In this context, the following levels should be distinguished:
- Ideologically motivated conceptual and theoretical development or its further elaboration within scientific discourse.
- Unintended effects of concepts and theories from the humanities and social sciences in non-scientific contexts due to their ideologically motivated appropriation and application.
Funding is available for project teams of two to three researchers from the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences who, through exploratory basic research, investigate the occurrence, mechanisms, and conditions of such reappropriations. At the same time, the initiative aims to create space for reflection on the philosophy of science, stimulate reception-sensitive theory-building, and contribute to science communication within the relevant disciplines.
The British Academy: International Interdisciplinary Research Projects 2027: Relationship between expertise, public understanding and policy delivery internationally
Projects will be led by UK-based researchers in the humanities and social sciences working with international partners and wishing to develop genuinely interdisciplinary projects that range across all SHAPE (social sciences, humanities and the arts) and STEM disciplines on the theme of Mobilities.
The purpose of each project will be to develop new international research led by and grounded in the humanities and/or social sciences, to further understanding of mobilities. Genuinely productive and integral interdisciplinarity is a requirement, with the expectation that this will involve collaboration across disciplines. The collaboration can include any SHAPE or STEM discipline as long as the research is led by and grounded in the humanities and/or social sciences.
The Academy requires applications to address one or more of the following topic areas:
* People, Materials and Things: Research that understands the movement of people and explores and interrogates the movement of materials. This includes both movement across geographical space as well as movement over time.

Cure Parkinson’s: Quarterly Grant in preclinical and clinical research – Pre-proposals
This programme funds preclinical and clinical research focused on slowing, stopping, or reversing Parkinson’s. We do not fund research which is directed at symptomatic relief.
For preclinical research, we fund grants up to £250,000 (GBP) and prioritise projects that are likely to lead to clinical trials in people with Parkinson’s within 5 years. Focus areas:
STO looks broadly at disruptive defense technologies across all domains (air, land, sea, space), aiming to develop proof-of-concept mission systems for complex modern warfare environments.
Topics of interest (non-exclusive):
These include AI, autonomy, robotics, advanced computing, communications, sensors, photonics, radar, EW, directed energy, human–machine interaction, logistics, space and undersea technologies, resilient systems, advanced manufacturing, and systems-of-systems, among many others.

Simons Foundation (SFARI): New Ideas (Autism Research) -LOI
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis
The goal of the New Ideas Award is to provide early-stage support for bold, exploratory research that tests novel hypotheses and opens new conceptual or experimental directions in the study of autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). Proposed research may draw on any scientific discipline, methodology or experimental system (including humans) and may operate at any scale or level of analysis. All projects should include a compelling case for the relevance and potential of the proposed experiments to SFARI’s mission. Investigators who have not previously been funded by SFARI are especially encouraged to apply.
Funding: up to of $300,000 per year for 2 years.

Lundbeck Foundation has now introduced Frontier Grants to support critical activities to advance and consolidate basic research projects, with significant potential, into attractive prospects for investors. The purpose of the grant is to advance mature research projects to become financeable and commercially tangible venture opportunities.
Purpose:
A Frontier Grant (FG) provides financial and interactive support to test and develop the commercial and translational potential of a basic research finding together with the researcher and allowing for mentoring and professional development activity.
Criteria – Who can apply:
Field must be within biomedicine or health sciences, i.e., not limited to brain health.
The research must be affiliated with a Danish non-commercial research institution – international collaboration is allowed.
duration of up to 18 months and a max budget of DKK 5.0 M (with optional 2.5 M and +6 months extension).
