Rosetrees: NEXT – Transformational Award in Medical Research – Preliminary Application

Description:

Funding pioneering medical research with high risk, high reward ideas in their chosen disease area.

Funding: up to £750K for 3-5 years.  Preliminary Application to Rosetrees – 8th June (4pm)

Please note: Each institute can submit one proposal. The office of the Executive Vice President for Research (MANLAM) will conduct an internal review to determine the one.

If interested, sent one page abstract + CV of the PI and each co-PI (up to 4 pages for each) to ra-tec@trdf.technion.ac.il by 19.5.

Who and What Are We Looking For?

An Exceptional Research Leader – A recognised expert with:

  • A track record of scientific excellence and competitive funding
  • The ability to generate disruptive ideas
  • A capable team
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Real World Impact – Your project must address a clear unmet need and move a validated concept toward clinical or market adoption. Examples include:

  • Diagnostics progressing from preclinical validation to early clinical evaluation
  • Therapeutics reaching a pivotal translational milestone
  • Digital or regenerative innovations moving toward deployment

Genuine Innovation – We welcome high potential technologies across:

  • Therapeutics

  • Cell and regenerative medicine

Your idea should offer clear advantages over current solutions, be supported by proof of concept data, and have a credible development pathway.

Cost Effectiveness and Strategy – Budgets must be proportionate and milestone aligned with:

  • Evidence of future investment potential

Patient Centred Design – Patients should be active partners. Proposals must reflect:

  • Real world needs
  • Lived experience
