Description:
Comparing quantitative uncertainty of traditional versus NAMs based hazard characterization
Looking to deliver transparent, balanced, and quantitative evidence about uncertainties in the derivation of safe exposure levels based on animal data versus NAM-derived data. The project can focus on human health hazard characterization or (preferably) include both human and environmental safety assessments.
Funding: in the order of €250 for 1 year

Improving understanding of sorption mechanisms beyond organic carbon partitioning: Development of metrics and screening methods for chemicals of low hydrophobicity
Aims to address the evaluation and assessment of substances for which adsorption to organic carbon is not the main mechanism driving mobility in soil. To this date, there is a lack of metrics and methods to adequately define the behavior of such substances in the environment.
Finding: in the order of €300 for 2-3 years

Expanding the applicability domain of the OECD 309 Test Guideline for biodegradation simulation testing to address difficult-to-test properties
To compile, validate, and (where needed) improve upon the existing dosing and test system configurations to allow testing of difficult substances within the current OECD TG 309. The goal would be to provide input to any further biodegradation guidance document development.
Funding: €300-€400 for 2 years
