Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF): Innovations in Cost-Disruptive Tools for Diagnosis and Screening

This Grand Challenge seeks cost-disruptive tools for diagnosis and screening, defined as devices that amortize capital to near-zero incremental cost and consumable $1-class tests that materially reset the cost curve in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) while meeting real-world deployment constraints. To accommodate different stages of innovation, this Challenge has multiple award sizes commensurate with technology maturity.
Funding:
• Option A: smaller proof-of-concept awards of $300K for up to 24 months
• Option B: mid-level awards of $500K for up to 24 months
• Option C: larger awards of $1M for up to 36 months
