Legal Department
The Legal Department at the Technion Research and Development Foundation (TRDF) provides legal services to TRDF members, staff and divisions. Inter alia, the Legal Department is responsible for dealing with all legal issues arising from intellectual property made or created by Technion researchers, employees, students, staff, and others participating in Technion programs. The Legal Department provides practical, ethical, and effective legal advice on a wide range of issues. The Legal Department supports the implementation of the Technion IP bylaws by providing a full range of commercial and legal services covering all aspects of intellectual property to TRDF’s divisions, including:
- Advising in all facets of intellectual property matters.
- Counseling on how to secure and exploit IP rights.
- Negotiating and managing various research agreements (research that is conducted in the Technion and/or on behalf of the Technion and/or is coordinated by the Technion).
- Managing agreements with funding agencies and industry.
- Services agreements (laboratories, equipment etc.)
- Managing agreements related to Israel Innovation Authority programs.
- Executing licensing agreements;
Our mission is to provide Technion faculty with excellent, legal counseling and solutions in support of the protection of their Intellectual Property. Moreover, we aim to prevent legal problems and solve those that occur.
The Legal Department is headed by adv. Nili Weitzman who has overall responsibility for directing the Technion Research and Development Foundation legal affairs.
